Join Toni and Robin Christie from Childspace, New Zealand for a day of professional development and learning that will explore possibilities for transformation in early childhood education.
The work we do every day alongside our youngest citizens has never been more important, yet sometimes it can seem as if we’re struggling just to keep up, let alone creating meaningful experiences and beautiful environments in our services’ day-to-day curriculum and practise.
This day will delight and inspire teachers as we take a fast-paced journey across the early childhood curriculum sharing ideas that will include:
The transformative power of rituals
Risk, resilience and loose parts play

Responding to Children’s Play
You notice what a child is engaged in, you recognise what learning is happening, but how do you respond to and extend that learning? This 3-hour course (1pm to 4pm) will delve into how to authentically respond to our own observations of children’s learning with invitations to play, and create more opportunities to further their learning and interests both individually and as a group. This course is designed for kaiako who feel ‘stuck’ or are unsure how to expand on the interests they observe, as well as provide ample opportunity for kōrero and outside the box thinking.
