Workshop

Our purpose-built Workshop is located on beautiful farm land in Ōhāriu Valley, Wellington. This is where ideas become reality with our custom design-and-build furnishings and playgrounds. In consultation with our centre managers, kaiako and tamariki, the workshop team maintain and develop the indoor and outdoor environments across Childspace.

At the workshop we endeavour to use natural and locally-sourced materials wherever possible, such as New Zealand plantation-grown pine plywood, bamboo, driftwood, logs and boulders. We also ‘upcycle’ as much as we can, utilising materials recovered from industry such as inner tubes, nets, ropes and pallets.

Our designs are always functional and we pride ourselves on thinking ‘outside the square.’
